Pinot Noir - Estate Vineyard - Sonoma Mountain - 2014

100% Pinot Noir
Clones: Wadenswil, Beba, Rochioli, Calera, Mt. Eden, and Van der Kamp Field Selection
Raised for 22 months in new French oak

The 2014 Estate Pinot is just plain fun to drink. Galloping out of the gates, this wine pulls no punches, grabbing the lapels, and sitting you up straight in your chair. A bushelful of decadently-ripe, red and black berry fruits intermingle with black tea, unroasted coffee bean and pine forest. The significant textures of our mountain vineyard envelop the tongue and deliver a long lingering finish. This is a thrill-a-sip wine-drinking experience.

As mentioned prior among these pages, when it come to growing Pinot Noir grapes, our imagination has been captured by the capabilities of the California heritage selections - those Pinot Noir grapevines with the longest history of being propagated in California. It is these 'heritage' selections that have most successfully adapted to ripening their grapes under California's sunny skies and in its dry soils.

Each September when harvesting the Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir, we witness the significant benefit these selections give us. The perfectly ripened, intensely flavored grapes provide the opportunity to make majestic Caifornia Pinot Noirs that are beautifully fruited and deeply nuanced, with supple textures and structure.
